Saddened by Death of Cyclist

I have been watching the News this evening, which for the most part I choose not to do. It seems there were many tragic accidents on the roads today and this evening. Earlier today, I'd heard about the Cylist who was hit and soon after pronounced dead. There were flowers and notes left by other CYCYLISTS which is, of course lovely. I noticed I am thinking that Toronto is becoming more and more of a "separatist" city. There seems to be "war" between, runners, drivers, dog owner/walkers and cyclists. I am, at this time a driver because of my work, though will be selling my car at the end of the year to go back to being "labeled" a pedestrian/TTC user. I don't know when this shift occurred???? I am a huge supporter of bike lanes and even believe that the city core should, for the most part be car free. If there was a way to do this, I think it would be good for the city and obviously the environment. I am just saddened by the fact that many individuals seem so at odds with other individuals, because of differing philosphies. I have experienced what I label as incredibly territorial behaviour. I don't remember such anger and intensity growing up. I as a 48 year old woman, am for the first time am having thoughts of leaving Toronto behind for greener pastures.
